30 minยทMakes 12ยทEasy

No oven needed, and no experience required โ€” these are perfect for making with kids on a slow December afternoon. Dates and dried plums roll into something that actually tastes like Christmas: warm spice, natural sweetness, and a coating of coconut sugar that makes each one feel like a tiny gift.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup dried plums (prunes)
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup pistachios
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes

How to make it

Soak dates and prunes in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain.

  2. 2

In a food processor, pulse almonds and pistachios until roughly chopped.

  3. 3

Add dates, prunes, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  4. 4

Process until mixture forms a paste-like consistency.

  5. 5

Add honey and pulse to combine.

  6. 6

Roll mixture into small balls using your hands.

  7. 7

Mix powdered sugar and coconut flakes in a shallow bowl.

  8. 8

Roll each ball in the sugar-coconut mixture.
